THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HANTEO & GAON (+ Where to buy to make your sales count to HANTEO/GAON/BILLBOARD)

As many LILIES are new to K-pop (or don't really care about K-pop but want to help Lisa), I thought about making a guide about the TWO MAJOR KOREAN CHARTS HANTEO & GAON and where to actually buy albums to make them count towards Korean charts & music shows. 

First I will explain the difference between HANTEO & GAON, because I noticed many are confused with them or have no idea what they are. 

HANTEO = Real-time physical album sales (Hanteo's numbers are NOT TOTALS SELLS)

GAON =  the number of albums shipped is counted.

⭐HANTEO⭐

Hanteo real-time sales are one critera for music shows to determine their winners. Especially hanteo's numbers of the first day and weeks are extremely important, to make Lisa win a lot of trophies on music shows. (such as Inkigayo, Show Champion, and so on).

Hanteo is a real-time chart that updates sales numbers as it obtains data from Hanteo-certified stores, which report the sales numbers of each album to Hanteo every day. 

                       ⚡AGAIN : Hanteo's numbers are NOT TOTALS SELLS⚡

⭐GAON⭐ 

are shipment sales (how many stores stocked their shelves with the album, how often did the stores had the need to restock (re-order), individual sales from websites, etc.). 

If the album is in high demand, the company will ship more to the stores to be sold, and if not, less will be shipped, some will be returned, in which case Gaon would adjust the number back down.

Gaon does not keep track of the number of albums actually sold from stores.  

Gaon charts have a higher value than Hanteo for end of year awards (like Daesangs) because Gaon shows the  continuing popularity and interest of an album throughout the year. 

Because Gaon includes store sales as well as individual, Gaon numbers will always be higher than Hanteo.

Now to the most important part.

💲 WHERE TO BUY ? 💲

If you absolutely want to guarantee your physical album purchase counts towards Korean charts, DON'T buy from Amazon or EBay (an exception is AMAZON YG SELECT because it's an official shop by YG ENTERTAINMENT). Many storefronts or sellers claim their sales count towards Hanteo and Gaon charts even if they do not, only to boost their sales and make a lot of money.

🚨Therefore only buy albums/singles from approved sellers. 🚨

Now I will list sites where you can buy an album and can be sure your purchases count. 

⚠️IMPORTANT NOTE:⚠️

》IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE "UNITED STATES"《 

If an ASIAN/EUROPEAN LILIE orders from an US site it STILL WON'T COUNT TO BILLBOARD.

ONLY sales of LILIES who LIVE in the UNITED STATES and ORDER from an US SITE are counting to BILLBOARD. (The item has to be shipped to anUS address.)

*If a US LILIE orders from a site OUTSIDE the US is WON'T count to billboard either. 

Billboard too has an extra rule saying that ONE PERSON can only buy 4 copies if a person buys more than 4 only 1 purchase is counted. 

Therefore it is important that international LILIES help US LILIES with donating to @LISA_US_FUNDS.

Additionally AMERICAN LILIES should ask as many family members, friends and relatives to buy for them copies too.
